The Best Fruit To Put In Water

Adding a burst of fruit to your water is a great way of giving your taste buds a tasty treat throughout the day. The refreshing mix is great for a healthy diet or if you aren't a fan of drinking water or want to stay hydrated in style! But what is the best fruit to put in water? Well, let's find out, shall we?

The Best Fresh Fruits To Infuse Water With

To make fruit-infused water, we prefer to use plain water (not flavoured with anything else), fresh fruit and fresh herbs and add ice cubes to keep it chilled in the fridge. Of course, if you have frozen fruit this will work great too, but may take a few hours longer to infuse. Use filtered water if you have it, if not, good old tap water can burst with flavour and improve hydration throughout the day by adding fresh fruit. Let's take a look at the best fruit to infuse water with now, shall we?

Apple - Adds a mild, sweet flavour that pairs well with cinnamon or other fruits. Try different types of apples for subtle flavour changes too.

Blackberry - Adds a rich, dark berry flavour and changes the colour of the water to a delightful dark pink, purpley colour.

Blueberry - Adds a subtle sweetness which pairs nicely with other fruits.

Cantaloupe - Very mild flavour but fantastically refreshing. Perfect if you want to maximise your hydration sessions!

Cherry - Adds a slightly tart flavour to your water with a subtle sweetness that keeps you coming back for more.

Cranberry - Adds a tart, slightly sweet flavour. Adds a similar flavour to your water as cherry, but cranberries are packed full of vitamin C so they are perfect if you're feeling under the weather.

Cucumber - Technically a fruit (and it won't be the last time we cheat on this list), adds a crisp, clean taste. Add cucumber to your water for a subtle taste that is packed full of the flavour of the garden. Or add fresh ginger and mint for a vitamin-packed infusion that is a taste sensation!

Grape - Adds a subtle sweetness and the more you add, the more sweetness you get.

Grapefruit - Offers a slightly bitter but very interesting and tangy citrus flavour.

Honeydew - Similar to cantaloupe but with a slightly different sweetness, yet still full of that hydration power!

Kiwi - Adds a tangy, sweet flavour and beautifully vibrant green colour.

Lemon - A classic choice for good reason! Adds a refreshing citrus flavour.

Lime - Similar to lemon but with a slightly different citrus twist.

Mango - Provides a tropical sweetness that is hard to beat. Great for a more exotic flavour.

Mint - (We're cheating again), Mint pairs well with so many fruits and provides such a refreshing taste that it had to be included on this list!

Orange - Sweet and tangy, a true classic! Perfect for a burst of citrus.

Passion Fruit - Adds a tropical, tangy flavour that's hard to beat!

Peach - Adds a summery flavour that's sweet, juicy and delicious!

Pear - If you're looking for a mild yet sweet flavour, pear is a good go-to.

Pineapple - Adds a tropical sweetness and a hint of tartness that's incredibly refreshing.

Plum - Slightly tart, slightly sweet and super delicious!

Pomegranate - Gives the water a beautiful red colour and offers a sweet yet tart flavour.

Raspberry - Adds a sweet and tart flavour, plus a beautiful red colour.

Strawberry - Another classic! Adds a sweet and slightly tart flavour and a lovely pink hue.

Watermelon - Adds a very mild sweetness to the water but is ultra-hydrating.

So, this is the best fruit to add to water for a tasty and hydrating treat. If we had to choose a favourite, it would be passion fruit, for its tropical taste sensation! However, the best fruit for water is the one that you find the tastiest. That way, you'll drink plenty of tasty flavour-infused water and get the benefits! Just before we leave you to enjoy your fruit-infused water, let's find out how to prep fruit for water and stick around because we have some amazingly delicious recipes you HAVE to try too!

How to Prep Fruit For Water Infusion

Many people like to add berries to water whole, but for a better flavour infusion, we'd recommend cutting all fruit up into small pieces. This exposes the flesh and juice and gets the infusion working faster. For things like fresh herbs, rub them in your hands to release some of the oils and this will create a drink with much more flavour!

Fruit Infused Water FAQs

Is putting fruit in your water healthy?

It can be very healthy to add fruit to water. It's believed that you absorb about 20% of the nutrients from the fruit, which isn't as much as eating it, of course, but it can still help with improving your immune system, hydration, reducing cravings, skin health and more.

What fruits should I put in my water for clear skin?

If you have dry skin use orange and blueberries. For some anti-ageing use watermelon, strawberries and mint. For oily skin use orange, lemon and kiwi. For dull skin use lime and pineapple.

What fruits to add to water for weight loss?

Citrus fruits can aid in weight loss when added to water. Mint is also a great addition when trying to lose weight. Try orange, lemon and mint-infused water for a deliciously tasty drink packed full of flavour and weight loss superpowers!

How long does infused water last?

However, use cold water and keep it cool with ice and your fruit infusion should last for a few days, if not a bit longer depending on how fresh the fruit and other ingredients are.
