Fruit Toppings For Porridge

Without a doubt, porridge is the best breakfast to fill us up and even as the weather gets warmer we can always rely on a hot bowl of morning oats to keep us going (and stop us snacking) until lunchtime.

Instead of plain old porridge (and if there’s any of your office fruit left after the morning rush) why not try our five fruity versions to make your cereal extra tasty and get in some mood-boosting nutrients in the process.

  1. Raspberry and almond

The tart flavour of the fresh raspberries cuts through the mild flavour of the milky porridge and the almonds add a healthy crunch, containing riboflavin to help increase brain activity. Just what we all need first thing in the morning.

  1. Banana and coconut flakes

Add chopped banana to your bowl of porridge once it’s cooked and the heat from the oats will warm through the banana chunks, making them sweeter and delicious. We also love sprinkling with coconut flakes for an added twist.

  1. Passion fruit and mango

Give your cereal an exotic edge with the flesh of half a passionfruit and a few slices of fresh mango. The sweet and sour flavours will liven up your morning tastebuds and are a great source of vitamin A and C.

  1. Mixed berries

Take a handful of your favourite berries – preferably those in season for the best flavour – and add to your porridge. If you’re feeling extra adventurous drizzle some honey or maple syrup over the top, sit back and power through your to do list.

  1. Apple and cinnamon

Chop half a fresh, crunchy apple into small chunks and add to your bowl for a pop of flavour in every mouthful. Team with a teaspoon of cinnamon for a match made in heaven.
